Celebrating multi-ethnic Dorset through images and stories. FREE workshops. Old Town Hall, Weymouth: 9th November, 11.30am-2.30pm 27 November, 11.30am-2,30pm 13 January 6-9pm. Are you from a minority ethnic (not White British) background? Do you live anywhere in Dorset (apart from Bournemouth and Poole)? Would you be interested in telling your stories and taking photographs/being photographed for a new Arts project? Supported by Arts Council England and Dorset County Council, local writer Louisa Adjoa Parker is working with photographer Martin Coyne to document minority ethnic people’s stories to be developed into an exhibition and book. Anyone is welcome, no experience necessary! Children with accompanied adults only. Other workshops will take place in Dorchester and Blandford. ‘People often say there are no black or minority ethnic people living in Dorset as the numbers are small in comparison with urban areas. But many BME people do live here and the numbers are growing. I hope that this project will raise the profile of this diverse community, and that we as a county can celebrate the contributions people from different ethnic backgrounds make to Dorset.’ Saturday 30th October 2010 6pm till 11pm Entry £1.50, proceeds to the Old Town Hall project ‘Vinyl Revival Roadshow’ Fancy Dress Families Welcome Refreshments available. Tuesday 30th November, 6pm – 9pm (Meeting at the Old Town Hall alternate Tuesdays) Entry only £2, proceeds to OTH renovation (actual therapies are not charged for). The healing workshop is for both therapist and none therapists from all healing backgrounds to get together and share knowledge and healing.People that have never tried healing are welcome to come and try it free of charge. People can be involved in a Earth Healing circle, Reiki and Indian head massage free of charge. Further therapies to be introduced. Further Information, contact organiser Bob Murphy – 07814 622692, email: rsm2010@hotmail.co.uk Conspiracy Theatre presents The Under Milk Wood Project Friday 24th & Saturday 25th September, 8pm Admission: £7 An adaptation of Dylan Thomas’ Play for Voices. ‘Under Milk Wood’, arguably Thomas’s most famous play is described as an orchestration of voices, sights and sounds that conjure up the dreams and waking hours of an imagined seaside village. The ‘dismays and rainbows’ of its inhabitants are played out within the cycle of one day. The larger-than-life characters engage the imagination and lead us to explore our own fears and desires. Directed by Jackie Avery and includes original sound and video scapes by Thomas Hughes and Martin Hedley. UPDATE: 24/09/10, 12 noon – There are about 12 tickets left for this evenings performance at The Old Town Hall at 8pm and only two for tomorrow eve at the same time. To reserve call 07588721374.
