HALL HIRE INFORMATION AND BOOKING

Both halls are currently available for hire. The emphasis of the Old Town Hall is heritage, arts & community.

 The halls are suitable for the following:

Meetings & seminars

Exhibition & performance

Workshops, classes, clubs

Table top activity, market, fayres

NOTE 1: Space can be hired for small scale younger children’s parties, but we regret it is not possible to accommodate adult parties.

 

FACILITIES

Facilities are quite basic at present, but will gradually develop.

  • Two halls, one upstairs & one downstairs .
  • Access to kitchenette with kettle, fridge & microwave (upstairs).
  • Access to one toilet (upstairs) (Note: fund raising for wheel accessible toilet downstairs currently on-going).
  • Currently there are 40 chairs & 6 large tables (6 ft).
  • Maximum of 60 people in each hall at any one time.

NOTE 2: Alcohol cannot be sold on the premises.

 

HERITAGE ROOM (Upper Hall)

The upstairs hall is appropriate for meetings, seminars, exhibiting and workshops.  No amplified music after 9pm (but downstairs hall is fine).

CRABCHURCH ROOM (Lower Hall)

The downstairs room is suitable for exhibiting, performance, workshops, screenings, meetings & amplified music.

HIRE CHARGES (per hall)

UNFUNDED COMMUNITY GROUP

£5.00 per 2.5 hours

 

Non-profit making , no paid staff .
FUNDED COMMUNITY GROUP

£5.00 per hour

 
Non-profit making but with paid staff / receiving a source of funding.  
COMMERCIAL / PRIVATE

£10.00 per hour

.Profit-making.

(£5 off for 4 hr booking)

NOTE 3: A deposit may be required for some types of hire.

OUTSIDE FORECOURT ONLY.    Free with hall or as hall rates above.  

COMMISSION BASED BOOKINGS

Where appropriate, it is possible to book on a commission basis instead of a hire fee, eg; a percentage of takings for items sold at an exhibition or door takings for an event. Committee agreement required.

NOTE 4: Please ensure that ALL preparation & dismantling / tidying is included within your booked times.

Please make your booking within the following timeframes:

Morning (9am – 1pm),  Afternoon (1pm – 5pm), Evening (5pm – 11.45pm).

 

ACCESS FOR PEOPLE WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES

Currently downstairs accessible. Upstairs assisted access only.

 

HALL HIRE CONDITIONS

Hall (including outside forecourt hire), agree to the following conditions:

- I will take full responsibility for ensuring that health & safety & fire safety precau-
 tions & procedures are implemented & observed for safety of all people present.
- I will sign for the keys and return them as agreed.
- I will treat the building, it’s contents & any exhibits / displays with care.
- I will ensure that a clear gangway is kept to emergency exits.
- I will be responsible for the appropriate behaviour of people present.
- I will report & record any injuries in the ‘accident’ book.
- I will put protection down if using messy materials & deal with any mis-haps.
- I will ensure appropriate numbers of staff are present for the activity.
- I will ensure that amplified music is used as specified and remains below
   maximum safe decibel levels in order to avoid disturbance to local residents.
- I will ensure that the space is tidied & returned to it’s ‘default’ condition.
- I will ensure the building is not left unattended & is locked securely after use.
- I will reimburse fully for any damage to the building or its contents.
- I will ensure that events open to the general public or audience will have appro-
 priate staffing, door staff, ticketing arrangements & fulfill licensing conditions.
- I will ensure that I have relevant insurance in place for my booking / activity.
